Our bedroom is one room I never seem to get right. But this time I like it.
BEFORE...
AFTER...
Our original bed frame was an IKEA find. I never loved it but it wasn't very expensive.
I have tried several different headboard options from doors to shutters and garden gates but I always went back to the sturdy IKEA frame. But - I got sick of it again.
I started my project with a large salvaged window hung with D rings and monkey hooks.
From there I cut down an old door to bulk up the sides. I just kept adding trim around it until it looked "big" enough. I used my nail gun to attach the wood to the wall.
(I bought NOTHING...all this was in my garage)
That antique mirror goes with our piano.
I like the shelf - it's hung with old PB candle scones and a couple of small angled supports.
The shelf wood is from IKEA's "damaged/final sale" section. I was supposed to build a bunk bed for the boys out of it. (....another day)
In case you were wondering - the shelf is 5 1/2 inches deep & high enough that I can stand on my knees on my bed and barely see my hair in that mirror - and I have big hair. So it doesn't get in the way of reading & relaxing.
I printed Mr. & Mrs. on vinyl from my Cricut & framed them with wood from the sides of an old door that I had cut down.
I put a dark rug under the bed for contrast. I really want dark wood floors but .... not today.
Well - until next time.
I think I'll go read a book in my new bedroom.

I really LOVE it! It's the perfect change. I looked at your home pics on your blog when I first discovered it and liked the black and white colorscheme with it's rustic flair. But, I really like the change you made too. Love those cute red and white striped pillows on your bed and the Mr. and Mrs. that you hung up each side. Too cute! I like the dark rug you added and the bench at the foot of the bed. What can I say, I like it all!
You definitely got it right! Your bedroom is beautiful. Pinning it!!!

Great job. I really like it. The only thing is it seems it might not be comfortable to sit up against. Can you sit up without hitting the shelf? It might not be a problem for you but I like to read in the bed. Great work though.

Beautiful bedroom.Love the mr. and mrs. art and the rustic bench too. I also really love the whole look of your blog. Nice big font and wide main page and big pictures. Can you please tell me how you got your center area and photos so nice and large. Mine seems to be all crowded and tight in the center. Trying to make improvements. Yours is so easy to enjoy.
Thanks
I'm lovin' my visit here!!
Thanks to Donna at Funky Junk for sending us over.

I love the changes. Black and white my favorite combination and such a great contrast. The only question I have is, any chance you could break the window or is there something between the pillows and the window? I know my Mr. would look at me and say how long before we break it.
Wow, it's gorgeous! Very nice! Is the bed raised?

Okay, so i guess i will make it 100 comments on this post! I don't usually take the time to comment as one really does need to pick and choose what they can spend time doing. i do feel bad about it, but can only do so much ;-) Like you need all this info. LOL I just wanted to tell you that your master bedroom is awesome and i often refer to it for ideas as we are redoing ours. Your whole blog is an inspiration!! You are a blessing to many!! May you continue to use your gifts to glorify HIM>

I love all your interiors. I've been pondering painting/refinishing our TV cabinet and love the finish on the black cupboard in your bedroom. Is there somewhere on your site where you tell how to get that finish. I would love to do that, but am afraid to try with no information. Thanks for a wonderful place to see !
I can see why you love it! It's fabulous! Love the linens on the bed and skirts. Everything is perfect.
