Here is an idea on how to dress up some plain candles
for the winter season.
I'm using white candles, decorative tissue paper (I found this newspaper print at Target), and Mod Podge.
I folded the tissue across at the width I wanted and licked it :) - so I could just gently rip each strip. I like the look of a ripped edge rather than a straight cut for tissue.
Mod Podge the candle then place the tissue over it.
Once they were dry I placed the candles in terracotta pots.
Filled the pot with tiny pine cones from Joann's around the candle.
This photo is blurry but those are little charms from the jewelry section at the craft store and jewelry twine.
The pots are also from Joann's.
These are cute for any ledge around the house.
How pretty for a center piece in a dining room.
Candles with a little natural element.
(I would have collected the pine cones in my yard but for $5 - worth it)

Makes me nearly want to brave our Joannes and Target again and make these. Perfect for after the holidays, but as Winter decor leading up to Valentines day.

Are these okay to burn with the paper on them and the modge podge? I would love to try them but worried about the paper burning or catching fire.

The candles really look great and I glad to see I'm not the only person who questions what you should decorate a candle with and I've never considered Mod Podge.

They look great, do you have to worry about the paper burning a different way once it gets that low or do you only burn them a little bit? Just curious, I would like to make some too.

Pine cones always seem to set a mood no matter what time of year. I love to mix small pine cones with shells in warmer months. I'm so glad I got this post from you as I've been trying to decide how to snazzy up some candles. Great project and so easy. I don't have the right tissue paper but I'll be rummaging thru my papers to see what I can come up with that's similar. Love the little keys also. Your centerpiece is wonderful.
