Here is an idea on how to dress up some plain candles
for the winter season.
I'm using white candles, decorative tissue paper (I found this newspaper print at Target), and Mod Podge.
I folded the tissue across at the width I wanted and licked it :) - so I could just gently rip each strip. I like the look of a ripped edge rather than a straight cut for tissue.
Mod Podge the candle then place the tissue over it.
Once they were dry I placed the candles in terracotta pots.
Filled the pot with tiny pine cones from Joann's around the candle.
This photo is blurry but those are little charms from the jewelry section at the craft store and jewelry twine.
The pots are also from Joann's.
These are cute for any ledge around the house.
How pretty for a center piece in a dining room.
Candles with a little natural element.
(I would have collected the pine cones in my yard but for $5 - worth it)

That looks beautiful--I love pinecones..and candles and all you did with this :)
Makes me nearly want to brave our Joannes and Target again and make these. Perfect for after the holidays, but as Winter decor leading up to Valentines day.
These are so cute...I have to look at Target for the paper. Thanks for the idea!
XO,
Jane
Love the look of these, I need to try some!
Are these okay to burn with the paper on them and the modge podge? I would love to try them but worried about the paper burning or catching fire.
Holly, I just found your blog and just can't tell you how much I love your style! Thanks for sharing!!
Thee are great for the holidays. I mostly use jar candles.

So so pretty! I have some cheapo hurricane candles and that could use this kinda stylin'. You have THE best ideas!
OOOO! Thanks for the ideas! Love these and all you do!
What a great idea! I'm guessing that it's safe to burn? I love how they look. Great idea to use the little jewelry charms and mini pinecones too. It's rustic glam!
So pretty! I love extra personal touches like yours.
I love the look, but will they burn? I mean the wrapping burn?
I have just nominated you for the Inspiring Blogger Award for all the wonderful ideas you share with us.
What a great way to dress up a candle! Have I mentioned I'm in awe of your constant creativity?

The candles really look great and I glad to see I'm not the only person who questions what you should decorate a candle with and I've never considered Mod Podge.
Your candles are so pretty on their own but in the pretty pots with pinecones - stunning!
Hi, Holly
I just love what you did to your candles. They are lovely. I found your lovely blog on the hangout tonight with Court, Becky and Brook. I enjoyed looking around your lovely blog and I am a new follower. Have a great Friday!

My dear,

It's beautiful, well structured, interesting… and it has completely got me hooked. I think we're going to get along just fine! ;) I'd like to invite you to meet my space as well and I hope you'll have as much fun as I am having in yours!
I wish you lots of success

Very, very cute! And I love the shape of those pots.

They look great, do you have to worry about the paper burning a different way once it gets that low or do you only burn them a little bit? Just curious, I would like to make some too.
Simply pretty is right ~ thanks for sharing!
I'm in love with your candle! You're a STAR in the Spotlight over at I Gotta Create!

Pine cones always seem to set a mood no matter what time of year. I love to mix small pine cones with shells in warmer months. I'm so glad I got this post from you as I've been trying to decide how to snazzy up some candles. Great project and so easy. I don't have the right tissue paper but I'll be rummaging thru my papers to see what I can come up with that's similar. Love the little keys also. Your centerpiece is wonderful.
Happy Valentine
