Are your fall planters looking like they have seen better days?
After hurricane Sandy and some really cold nights....
we need to freshen up around here.
These pots are old...only 7 years or so. I want them to still look old but brighter so they stand out more against our tan color house.
So here's what I did:
Then I cleaned them up.
I wanted more "chipped paint" spots so I painted them with black paint.
Then I filled the pots with twigs and pine cones
starting with a vine wreath around the rim.
The twinkle sticks are battery operated and purchased from JoAnn's.
I tied raffia around the wreath and dangled star charms from the bow.
This arrangement should last all winter through.
Looks cute at night.
With natural and artificial twigs I was able to pull off a bright, rustic
& effortless look for my porch.

What a great holiday transformation. I like how you were able to reuse items you already had. Beautiful with the strand of lights.
What a great makeover and I love the way you filled it!
Looks wonderful!

I've never seen this method before...Vaseline! How cool. I have to try this in the spring, it is SO cold here!!

Lovely results from a new-to-me technique! I will have to remember this one.

Love the new look. They really stand out :)
Hmmm. Very good tips. My pots need serious attention. Why didn't I think of this? :)
