A Salvaged Frame

I found this frame at my favorite salvage store last week.

I liked the chunky size but not the veneer.

Board & Batten Bathroom

This is a half bath in a beautiful country home.
The homeowners thought this bathroom was too dark
and wanted to brighten it up a bit.
(no "before" picture...sorry)

Boys Room Before

This week I get to makeover a cute little boys room into a girl room.
I helped decorate this bedroom a couple of years ago.
This little boy gets to move in with his big brother to make room for the "surprise" baby sister that is due to arrive in just a few weeks.

Pretty Parsley & Basil

(I should say 'Not So' Pretty Parsley and Basil.)

A week or so ago I planted some herbs in recycled peanut butter jars.
To see that post click here .

Although I did put gravel in the bottoms of the jars for drainage, it wasn't enough.
I needed to relocate the little herbs so they could live - poor things.

Here is what I found at IKEA for $9.99

Let's Talk Doors...

When I take my kids to school I drive by this door on a garage in my neighborhood ....
This post is about using doors in creative ways.

Indoor Wood Pallet Flower Box

A couple of weeks ago I cut down an old wood pallet for my little boy's room.
I made two bookshelves out of it but only used one.
I found a space for the other....

Our room for music and relaxing...

Pin Inspiration Weekend #1

I was home with my sick little boy over the weekend so we kind of lounged around a bit
 - kind of like Sadie does every day.
To entertain myself while Luke played quietly,
I went to my pin boards and decided to create.

My Inspiration:

This is really cute so I made one kind of like it.

I went to the hardware store for those little plumbing straps.
They were $2.50 each.
I found a wood piece from an old door in my garage and painted it white.
My planters are recycled peanut butter jars.
I used U nails to attach the straps and slid my planters right into the circular opening.
Then tightened them up with a screwdriver.
The herbs are from the grocery store.
(I already killed one of them - so the one on the left is a "stand in" plant for the photo)

My other inspiration:

I made a ladder several months ago and used it for blankets etc.
I like this one in the laundry but I wanted one in my kitchen to hang dried herbs from.

Since I wasn't sure if I would really love this,  I decided to not make holes in the ceiling.
The ladder is light weight so I hung it from my light fixture with S hooks and rope.
(I installed those light fixtures so I know how good they are anchored in -
 I think it will hold.)

Fun Accents in a Super Cool House

Yup!  It's from Laura's Super Cool House....
Laura hired me a few years ago to help her bring in some funky style
 to her "newish" builder colonial.

It's a painted "rug" in the family room.

This room was cleared of furniture for the New Year Dance Party.

The sofa's are from Restoration Hardware.
You can sleep on them - they are so deep.
The mirror was a cool find at a local store called Venetuccis.
The curtains?  Yes, they are IKEA - $4.99 per set.
I use these a lot because of the flow and gauze type texture.
(but the rods were not such a cheap find - aren't they cool?)

Nature Inspired Winter Decor

It's been so freezing.  It makes me think of all the little critters that live outside.
I love to invite birds into our yard in the winter.
So to remind myself to not neglect nature - I made this sign.
All the Christmas decor is gone but we have a long winter ahead of us.
Here's how I changed the house up for the occasion.
(keeping our little birdies in mind)

The pine cones and bird houses were on my Christmas tree.

Distress Wood With A Razor Blade

As I was doing a bit of Christmas clean up, I wanted to do something to our TV console because it was so dark.  I didn't want to see all the "electronics".

My husband wanted a console that had NO doors so the stereo system would respond to the remotes etc - etc....
This space doesn't work well for switching out cd's anyway so I'll move that stuff to a new place where we can relax and listen to music.

I planned to make a burlap knot cloth to cover up the opening of the console.  Then I remembered that I had picked up a wood dresser last summer for $5 at a tag sale.
It was in the garage buried under "stuff".

A Cottage Style Guest Room

Another project from Laura's house.
Laura and Alex have lots of guests come to stay with them and she was so sweet to want that room extra cozy.
Laura and I admired a picture in Pottery Barn that featured a cottage bedroom - the wall was a chippy white wood.  I said --- Let's do that...

Happy New Year @ Laura's House

A Way Fun Happy New Year Party hosted by Laura & Alex
A few years ago Laura hired me to help her decorate her lovely home.
We quickly became friends and had a blast tackling each project.  Laura has a wonderful style all her own and she's very brave to think outside the box.
She embraced my "outside the box" thinking as well. A perfect team - I think.
Here are some inspiring pictures of our accomplishments:
The Den
I found these old barn doors at a salvage store along with two others (used in Jake's room as a headboard - see that on my Kid Spaces page).
What a perfect backdrop for this rustic and cozy den.
