Rustic Bench Back in the Foyer

I moved our huge horse art to the foyer right above the bench which holds our shoes. See how I made the bench have more personality and give our foyer a more personal touch.
The horse canvas is a favorite piece of mine so I moved it to where we can see it better.
I've been wanting to add a back to this bench since I got it.
I had enough wood in the garage to cut random sizes to fill the space between the bench and canvas. I painted and distressed each one separately then nailed them to the wall.
I chose different colors for each piece after I was inspired by THIS POST.

I wasn't planning to put our family established sign on there but I needed that scrap piece of wood. It really ended up being just right for this spot.
I like our house to have a vibe of our own the minute anybody walks in.
It's getting there.

It's there already! I love the use of the rustic wood and the horse canvas is a gorgeous piece. I have been working on a plan to add some similar rustic wood planks to a bathroom. We'll see how that goes.

I think you've given your home a great presence by putting those rustic pieces in your foyer. It has given it "drama" and it looks exciting and like you want the visitor to look around!

Love what you did with the bench.
Could you do a more in depth tutorial on how you cut, painted, and distressed the wood??

It's so you Holly, it's creative and has attitude! Love that it's right in the foyer and says something about what you will see inside the home right off the bat! Wish I had your vision and not to mention saw skills!
Hugs,
Pendra
